Self-Described ‘Super-Genius’ Steps Up to the Microphone and Asks Tesla Motors CEO a Question That Leaves Him at a Loss for Words

"I've been asking to speak to you now for two years..."

The Tesla Motors 2014 shareholder conference suddenly morphed into an awkward spectacle this week when a self-described "super-genius" confronted CEO Elon Musk and asked if he could be named vice chairman.

"I've been asking to speak to you now for two years, um, to talk to tell you that I'm also a super-genius like yourself," the man, identified as Roy Philipose, said at a question and answer session.

"Okay, I'm not certain I'm one, but alright," Musk responded.

"No, I'm sorry, I'm not — I'm just saying serious ... to all the benefactors, shareholders in the world, I'm also a capitalist like yourself, I am also level two stage," Philipose said. "I've been waiting for 10 years now for someone to give me a second look, a full second look. And if they did, they'd see a very vast mind in front of them. So I'm asking you today, can you give me a second look?"

"A second look in what — I'm not sure in what regards?" a perplexed Musk asked.

"I would like to come on board as vice chairman of Tesla," Philipose answered in a serious tone, as the audience erupted in laughter.

"Uh, well, we don't really have  a vice chairman spot," Musk said. "I'd have to say no."

"I'm sorry, I can also apply for a future CEO position, but at least, at least I would like to come on the board of directors. I apologize. This is to the benefit of Tesla shareholders," a defiant Philipose said.

"I think we need to move on to another question," Must said. "My apologies."

On Friday, Philipose turned to Twitter to react to individuals skewering him.

"I am slightly offended you guys calls me delusional and crazy," he wrote in one tweet. "I am pretty brilliant and I hope someone recognizes me for it."

In another, he said, "Elon Musk was considered crazy 2 years ago with electric vehicles. Now he is considered 'smart.' He was smart before, not after. Same here."
