Matt Drudge Talks 'Divided' Politics, Media in Very Rare Radio Interview
June 27, 2014
"How can you say the airwaves or the website should not be divided? We are."
Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge defended his website’s conservative slant in a very rare radio interview on Friday, saying the entire country is divided politically, so why shouldn’t the “airwaves or the website” be divided as well.
In the WTOP interview, Drudge also said news is more important than ever and described Washington D.C. as the “heartbeat of the nation, for good or bad.”
When one of the radio host’s said the Drudge Report “approaches things from a partisan point of view,” Drudge argued the site is more “partisan to news.”
“In talk radio, in the media, when we are very partisan, right? A lot of people will say it helps us devolve socially, and that it lends nothing but vitriol and acrimony to an already heightened atmosphere,” the radio host added.
“But the country is divided. All of these polls are always divided. Capitol Hill is divided,” Drudge replied. “How can you say the airwaves or the website should not be divided? We are.”
Drudge also shared his views on the “vibrant” state of the media, which has grown so much more dynamic in recent years.
