As Young Men Are Slain, Palestinian and Israeli Families Comfort One Another
July 06, 2014

As the seemingly never-ending violence continues to claim lives in the Holy Land, the families of slain Israeli-American teenager Naftali Fraenkel and murdered Palestinian teen Mohammed Abu Khdeir apparently shared something all-too-rare between Israelis and Palestinians: kind words.
Nir Barkat, the mayor of Jersualem, wrote on Facebook Sunday about an “emotional and special telephone conversation between two families that have lost their sons,” the Jewish Daily Forward reported.

The mayor said that as he was visiting the Fraenkel family, he was able to connect them with Hussein Abu Khdeir, Mohammed's father.
Yishai Fraenkel, Naftali's uncle, spoke with the Palestinian teen's father over the telephone, the Forward reported, and the two men comforted one another.
