Check out the 'behind the book' look at Brad Thor's new thriller, 'Act of War

Inspiration for the thriller comes from epic stories out of two very different places: Afghanistan and North Korea.

No. 1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor has a new thriller out on Tuesday July 8th titled "Act of War."

In connection with the release of his book, Thor put out a "behind the book" video, in which he discusses his inspiration for the thriller.

Interestingly, as Thor notes in the video below, the book's plot and themes were influenced by two disparate but epic titles in particular: Marcus Luttrell's "Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10," and Blaine Harden's "Escape from Camp 14: One Man's Remarkable Odyssey from North Korea to Freedom in the West."

In "Act of War," Thor explores four chilling questions:

  • What if a foreign nation began to implement a plan to overthrow the United States?
  • How would we fight back if our enemy had thrown any semblance of a rulebook out the window?
  • What if the most benign, everyday things we take for granted were being weaponized and turned against us?
  • What constitutes an ACT OF WAR?

You can find a teaser for the book below:

"After a CIA agent mysteriously dies overseas, his top asset surfaces with a startling and terrifying claim. There’s just one problem— no one knows if she can be trusted.

But when six exchange students go missing, two airplane passengers trade places, and one political-asylum seeker is arrested, a deadly chain of events is set in motion.

With the United States facing an imminent and devastating attack, America’s new president must turn to covert counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath to help carry out two of the most dangerous operations in the country’s history.

Code-named “Gold Dust” and “Blackbird,” they are shrouded in absolute secrecy as either of them, if discovered, will constitute an act of war."

Note: The links to the books in this post will give you an option to elect to donate a percentage of the proceeds from the sale to a charity of your choice. Mercury One, the charity founded by TheBlaze’s Glenn Beck, is one of the options. Any donations to Mercury One are fully tax-deductible and go towards efforts such as tornado relief, preparedness training, and veterans support.
