According to KNBC-TV, two Bakersfield police officers could smell the drug emitting from the vehicle and summoned a police dog who alerted authorities.
When police opened the truck, they found more than three tons of marijuana stashed in the back.
"It's the largest in recent memory that anybody around here remembers," Sgt. Joe Grubbs told KNBC, adding that officers promptly destroyed the drugs.

Two Bakersfield men, driver Daniel Ruiz, 22, and passenger Jose Alcarez, 24, were arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of marijuana for sales, transportation of marijuana and conspiracy, the Bakersfield Californian reported.
It's not clear where the pot originated from, police said.
