Glenn Beck Reveals How Much His Audience Has Raised to Help Illegal Immigrant Children at the Border

"The best people I believe ever gathered together as an audience."

Glenn Beck said his audience has raised over $700,000 to bring food, water, and toys to underage illegal immigrants at the border on Saturday.

"This audience, through $5 and $10 and $20 donations, has now raised over $700,000 for the [Mercury One Children and Family Border Relief Fund]," Beck said on his radio program Monday. "I want you to really think about that: $700,000."

"I have a goal that we will be able to bring $1 million worth of aid down to the border this week," Beck continued. "This aid goes to the churches. This aid comes because the churches reached out and said, 'Help us, please. Somebody help us. We're overwhelmed.'"

Beck said that "nobody has even come close to anything like this."

"Why?" he asked. "Because too few actually still believe in the America that we are fighting to keep alive, the decent Americans still fighting to be good. ... I love this audience. I love my viewers. They are the best people I believe ever gathered together as an audience. They are a group of people that understand that America is not a place. America is a state of mind."

Beck said there are those on the left and right who have reacted negatively to his decision, but that they are a "vocal minority."

"We all have a role to play, and our children and grandchildren will ask us where we stood," Beck remarked. "I and my family will stand with the Lord. I will be Corrie ten Boom. I will serve my king. I will play no role in hatred or revenge."

Beck said his actions "can't come as a surprise" to those who have watched him on CNN, Fox or TheBlaze.

"I always called for values and principles," he said. "Always called for my audience to turn to God and to peace."

Beck repeatedly emphasized that those who are in the U.S. illegally must return to their home countries, but that there is an obligation to care for them while they are here.

"The families down on the borders need to be sent home. And quite honestly, their countries need to be held responsible," Beck remarked. "With that being said, the children, and -- yes, some of the bad guys that are there, too -- instead of shipping them deeper into our nation, we need to gather them together and help those American towns and cities that are dealing with this crisis firsthand. The churches are overwhelmed. The public systems are overwhelmed, and our government doesn't seem interested at all in doing anything to make it better. They're just playing politics."

Beck said he understands the frustration surrounding the issue, adding that many of those who are making donations did everything they could to ensure we wouldn't find ourselves in this crisis.

"We asked, we begged, we even marched," Beck said. "We were mocked; we were ridiculed and called racist. My listeners are nothing of the sort. In fact, my listeners and viewers are in a category all by themselves, I believe. They are the people in America that are willing to stand against the wind. They are willing to stand against the tide and be beaten up against the rocks. They will even stand against those who they share political ties with, if their principles dictate otherwise."

"These are people who want to be better neighbors. These are people looking for anyone who will put principles over parties, to join them," Beck said. "Join them with strong backs and strong arms."
