Russian Man Plans to Set Himself on Fire, Firefighters Fight Him Instead

It seems Russian firefighters take their title seriously: They will literally fight to keep fire contained.

A video posted to LiveLeak Sunday purports to show a man in Magadan, Russia, who was going to set himself on fire but was thwarted by a swift kick to the hands.

At the start of the video, a man in a brown jacket is seen speaking with two firefighters, one of whom is holding a fire extinguisher, in front of a small fire in the street.

It's unclear what is said, but very quickly one of the firefighters decides to take action: He kicks a cup out of the man's hands.

It becomes almost immediately clear that the cup contained highly flammable liquid.

The firefighters tackle the man and spray down the blossoming inferno with the extinguisher, lending credence to the claim that the video shows a self-immolation attempt thwarted.

No one in the trio appeared to have been seriously burned in the incident.
