Israeli Military: Multiple Rockets Fired at Israel After 72-Hour Truce Expires (UPDATE: Israel Strikes Back)

UPDATE — 3:47 a.m. ET: The Israeli military said they carried out airstrikes in Gaza in response to renewed rocket fire by "Gaza terrorists" aimed at Israel:

Multiple rockets were fired at Israel moments after a 72-hour cease-fire between Israel and Hamas expired, the Israeli military said.

According to the IDF, more than 10 rockets were fired from Gaza at Israel. At least one was intercepted by the Iron Dome while several others landed in empty fields, the Israeli military said.

A senior Hamas official had previously said that a deal to extend the cease-fire had not been reach, saying Israel rejected all of the group’s demands.

Earlier, Israel said Hamas broke the truce when the group fired two rockets from Gaza at the Jewish state.
