Author of bombshell book on hidden lives of first families reopens a particularly sore Clinton wound

"The FBI says on the record that that humiliation by Hillary of her own friend, her own mentor at the Rose law firm triggered his suicide."

Ronald Kessler's new book, "The First Family Detail: Secret Service Agents Reveal the Hidden Lives of the Presidents," has been making waves for some of its oddball anecdotes, such as on Vice President Joe Biden's alleged skinny dipping, to more substantive revelations pertaining to alleged Secret Service corner cutting and its disturbing implications vis-à-vis national security.

But during an interview with TheBlaze Books, the New York Times bestselling author touched on an issue that is perhaps the most taboo of them all, which presumably in and of itself could have drawn the ire of spokespeople for likely 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

While the Clinton camp was likely nonplussed with allegations in the "First Family Detail" of Bill's supposed mistress code named "Energizer," Kessler also addresses the subject of the alleged suicide of former White House lawyer and personal attorney to the Clintons, Vince Foster, around whose name numerous conspiracy theories have swirled since his death in July 1993.

In the book, Kessler claims that on the record statements by the FBI indicate that investigators felt that Foster's suicide was precipitated by a devastating meeting with Hillary Clinton and other White House staff members the week before his death.

During our interview, Kessler told us that "About a week before the Vince Foster suicide, Hillary had a big meeting in the White House with Foster and other White House colleagues and totally humiliated him in front of all of the White House staff."

In the meeting, which allegedly took place over a disagreement regarding a legal interpretation, Kessler explains that Clinton berated her close friend and confidante Foster, calling him a "small-town hick lawyer," and arguing "you'll never make it in the big time" and "you failed us."

Kessler says "the FBI found...[even though he was already depressed, that] Vince Foster just went totally downhill after that." Further, "The FBI says on the record that that humiliation by Hillary of her own friend, her own mentor at the Rose law firm triggered his suicide."

Hillary Clinton plays a prominent role in Kessler's book, with the author alleging that being on Clinton's Secret Service detail is considered "punishment," and the "worst assignment" in the service.

You can listen to the Vince Foster portion of our interview, as well as Kessler's response to attacks from the Clinton camp starting at 13:15 below.

During the interview we also discussed a number of other topics including:

  • Ronald Reagan and his treatment of the Secret Service versus those who have treated it poorly
  • The strains Joe Biden places on the Secret Service (and his skinny dipping)
  • Bill Clinton's alleged mistress, "Energizer" and the national security implications of the dalliances of political figures
  • Why the Secret Service is leaving crowds attending major events in which the president is present unscreened
  • Jimmy Carter's anti-military stance as president
  • And much more
