What He Does to the 72-Year-Old Walking in This Video Is Just Despicable

It was sad, seemingly senseless and caught by a surveillance camera.

A 72-year-old man was assaulted Monday while walking down the street in New York's West Village, and police are now searching for the guy who clocked him, WNBC-TV reported.

As surveillance video from the scene shows, a younger man waits, facing the street, as the older man approaches behind him.

Then, seemingly without provocation, the younger man turns and lashes out, punching the older man in the head, before running across the street.

Police say another man was waiting across the street, WNBC reported. Both men were said to appear to be in their 20s.

The assault bears resemblance to the so-called "Knockout Game," the questionable phenomenon in which young men seemingly attack random strangers for kicks.

Police said they're searching for the pair of younger men, and directed tips to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
