"It is interesting to see that even when we consider just the most popular artists, we can see regionalisms in listening preferences."
A new map published online breaks America up into four distinct musical regions: Jay Z in the South, Drake in the Southwest, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis in the Northwest and Daft Punk in California.
The map, created by Spotify's Paul Lamere, was based on data drawn from the listening behavior of a quarter-of-a-million individuals.
"It is interesting to see that even when we consider just the most popular artists, we can see regionalisms in listening preferences," Lamere said in post on his website. "I’ve highlighted the regions with color on this version of the map."
So which musical region do you live in? Take a quick look at the map and find out.
