A member of the Florida school board who voted to scrap state standardized testing in her district is having second thoughts.

Lee County School Board member Mary Fischer was the deciding voice in the 3-2 vote to get local students out of the testing, the first time a district in the state has voted to opt out. Now Fischer is asking for another meeting to rescind the vote, WFXT-TV reported.
Superintendent Nancy Graham, who opposed the board's vote to opt out, agreed to schedule a meeting for Tuesday night.
More than 30 people spoke at the Wednesday meeting when the board voted, largely cheering those in favor of ditching the testing and booing those opposed.
“No matter what else is going on, teachers go on and they teach the students," Fischer said at the meeting, according to the News Press. “If this is our window of opportunity, I hope we make the best of it."
Groups such as the Florida Citizens' Alliance and the Libertarian Party of Florida have joined with some parents in support of opting out.
