Obama Jokes About Abysmal New York City Traffic Caused in Part by His Motorcade: ‘It’s Pretty Smooth for Me’

"Everybody hypes the traffic, but I haven't noticed."

President Barack Obama joked about the abysmal traffic in New York City's caused in part by his motorcade, saying Tuesday he hasn't noticed the problem while in town for the U.N. Climate Summit.

"It's pretty smooth for me during the week," the president said in his opening remarks at the Clinton Global Initiative. "I don't know what the problem is. Everybody hypes the traffic, but I haven't noticed."

Obama even joked that he would let Chelsea Clinton borrow his motorcade, should she have gone into labor while he delivered his remarks.

"I was just discussing with President (Bill) Clinton that if Chelsea begins delivery while I'm speaking, she has my motorcade and will be able to navigate traffic."

The president delivered a climate change speech in New York City earlier Tuesday to the U.N. and was scheduled to take part in a fundraiser later in the day.
