NBC Host Slams White House Official: 'Why Should We Trust' the Government?
October 05, 2014
"...growing skepticism of institutions..."
White House Senior Adviser Dan Pfeiffer appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday, trying to allay public fears about Ebola entering the United States by saying, essentially, that the government was up to the task of fighting the virus.
Host Chuck Todd confronted him with a long list of recent government failures and then asked the brutal question: "Why should we trust what you're saying about the CDC [being] able to handle this?"
Pfeiffer tried to blame a "growing skepticism of institutions" in general for the public disgust with government, and then he claimed that the government had dealt "quickly" and "forcefully" with every problem Todd had just listed.
Watch the clip and decide for yourself if all of those problems have been "quickly" and "forcefully" addressed.
