October 15, 2014
A WXIN cameraman offered money to the suspect.
A news crew was in the middle of covering a prayer vigil for shooting victims Tuesday night when a male with a black semiautomatic pistol approached the WXIN-TV van and ordered the crew out of the vehicle, police told the Indianapolis Star.
Tonight a gunman approached a FOX59 crew & carjacked our vehicle. We’re happy to report everyone is safe & we're working w/ @IMPD_News.

A WXIN cameraman offered money to the suspect but police said he repeated his order that the crew exit the van and then drove away, the Star reported.
The vehicle was located a few blocks from the scene about 20 minutes later, police said. No members of the news crew were hurt and none of the camera equipment inside the vehicle was stolen — although a few personal items were missing, the Star said.
The suspect was described as a black male in his early 20s dressed in dark clothing, WRTV-TV reported, adding that he had not been caught.
A report from WXIN noted, "We’re so happy to report that everyone is safe."
