Syrian Woman Accused of Adultery Pleads for Forgiveness From Her Father. He Finally Caves, Then Helps Militants Stone Her to Death.

"Allah willing, you will be rewarded for forgiving her."

An extremely disturbing video out of Syria appears to show a woman accused of adultery pleading for her father’s forgiveness, before Islamic State fighters stone her to death, a punishment in which the father actively participated.

According to a translation by the Middle East Media Research Institute, the stoning was meant to send a chilling warning to other women in Hama in Syria.

As the video opens, a militant with the hardline Islamist group says the woman was the first to be stoned to death in the area.

“We hope that this will serve as a lesson for other women,” he says. “You should be satisfied with the ruling decreed by Allah, and submit to Allah.”

He then asks the woman’s father if he has anything to say to his daughter, to which he replies, “No.” She asks her father to forgive her, to which he also replies, “No,” an answer that was not pleasing to the militants.

From MEMRI’s transcript of the video which was embossed with the Islamic State group’s logo:

Woman: Ask him to forgive me.

Father: I won't! […] I am not your father anymore.

ISIS Member: Okay, you are not her father anymore, but you can still forgive her.

Woman: Forgive me.

Father: No.

ISIS Member: She'll be delivered to Allah anyway.

Father: There is God in the heavens.

Woman: Forgive me.

Father: You expect me to forgive you for your mistake?!

Woman: Forgive me.

Father: No.

ISIS Member: Forgive her.

Father: I'm sorry, but my heart won't let me.

Woman: God will forgive me.

Father: Hopefully God forgives you, but I won't.

ISIS Member: The Lord is more merciful than us all. Allah willing, you will be rewarded for forgiving her. She is going to die. Please, forgive her.

Father: My heart won't let me.

Woman: Please, father…

Father: Don't call me "father"!

ISIS Member: Okay, but forgive her. Tell her you do.

Father: Fine, I forgive you.

The woman then asks her father to hold her hand, which he refuses.

The father is seen in the grainy video tying up his daughter with a rope and leading her to a pit. The surrounding men carry out the brutal execution by throwing large stones and bricks at her as she vocally prays.

The father is seen enthusiastically participating in his daughter’s murder.

Reuters reported that a man was also stoned to death for adultery by jihadists in Syria, an apparently unrelated case, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a U.K.-based activist group.

It noted that this was the first documented case of a man being executed by stoning for adultery.

MEMRI noted that the video was posted online on Tuesday, but it’s unclear exactly when the execution took place.

The punishment was criticized by another Syrian opposition group.

“We condemn this horrible crime committed by IS against this woman in the Hama countryside,” the National Coalition said in a statement. “This crime has nothing whatever to do with the Syrian revolution.”
