Jep Robertson Reveals the Terrifying Details of His Deadly Health Scare While Hunting in a Remote Wooded Area
October 31, 2014
"I'm glad to be alive."
"Duck Dynasty" star Jep Robertson opened up about the recent health scare that left him hospitalized and on life support for four days.
"I'm glad to be alive," the reality TV star proclaimed in an interview with "Fox & Friends" this morning.
Robertson, 36, who appeared alongside his wife Jessica, said that he was deer hunting on October 19 in remote Louisiana woods when he experienced a debilitating seizure, though he said he has no memory of what unfolded before he was hospitalized and put on a ventilator.
He was apparently so disoriented that he didn't even recognize his relatives, including his mother, Miss Kay, his brother, Willie and his wife.
"I feel terrible about that, because I know that really hurt her feelings," he said of Miss Kay's reaction.
Jessica shared that she was relieved once her husband was taken off of the ventilator and appeared to be on the mend just four days after the health scare.
"When he came out and grabbed my hand, it was such a sigh of relief for us just to know that he knew who we were, so it was pretty emotional," she said.
Robertson said that he had tested "kind of positive for meningitis and encephalitis," blaming the illness on a mosquito bite.
