It was an early Christmas for one Colorado waitress this week.
Carly DiMuzio, a waitress at Route 6 Cafe in Vail, couldn't believe her eyes Tuesday when a customer with a $15 bill left her a $1,000 tip.
DiMuzio said the woman who left the tip seemed like any ordinary customer, so when she asked toward the end of her meal for a piece of paper and a pen, DiMuzio didn't think anything of it.
The customer, Susan, used the pen and paper to leave DiMuzio a note.
"My sweet server at Route 6 ... you ROCK!! I would love to see this on Vail Daily so that others in our valley will do the same! Have a great ski season!" Susan wrote.
The customer said she had been waiting for the right person to leave a generous tip for since seeing all the "pay it forward" stories on Facebook. So when Susan got such great service from DiMuzio, Susan knew she was the one.
'There's just something very gratifying about doing something for someone you don't even know and can't pay you back," Susan said.
Looking back, DiMuzio said she's extremely grateful for Susan.
"Just really incredible," DiMuzio said.
