Popular Author Malcolm Gladwell Has a Theory About Football That Fans Won't Like
November 13, 2014
"Can you point to another industry in America which, in the course of doing business, maims a third of its employees?”
Do not expect to see best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell at the Super Bowl in Arizona on February 1.
In a new interview with Bloomberg's Emily Chang, Gladwell unleashed on pro football, calling it, "a moral abomination.”

Citing statistics from the NFL, he wonders, "Can you point to another industry in America which, in the course of doing business, maims a third of its employees?”
The comments from Gladwell are not exactly new. Back in 2009, he wrote a piece for the New Yorker titled, "Offensive Play." In that opinion piece, Gladwell asked if there was a difference between "football and dog fighting?"
The entire interview with Malcolm Gladwell airs tonight on Bloomberg's "Studio 1.0" at 8:30pm ET tonight.
