Flashback: Obama Previously Made the Case Against Taking Executive Action on Immigration

"With respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive order — that's just not the case."
President Barack Obama will announce that he will take executive action on immigration during a primetime address to the nation Thursday evening — yet, Obama had previously made the case against doing just that.
A video posted online by the right-leaning Washington Free Beacon highlights the many times the president made the case against executive immigration action.
"For me to simply through executive order ignore those congressional mandates would not conform with my appropriate role as president," Obama once said.
"With respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive order — that's just not the case," the president said in another.
