College Football Game Ends in Unbelievable Fashion — and One Player Will Likely Have to Explain Himself to Coach
December 04, 2014
One of the craziest endings to a football game you'll ever see.
The University of Central Florida defeated East Carolina University in dramatic fashion on Thursday night, completing an incredible Hail Mary pass for a touchdown as time expired in the fourth quarter.
East Carolina’s attempt to run out the clock backfired in a big way after they turned the ball over on downs, giving UCF good field position with 10 seconds left in the game.
UCF completed a short pass towards the sideline and the receiver managed to get out of bounds at around midfield, stopping the clock at five seconds.
Then the quarterback threw the deep Hail Mary pass into the end zone. Somehow, some way, a UCF receiver came down with the ball in double — almost triple — coverage.
ESPN has the recap:
We say “almost” triple coverage because one of the defenders appeared to have actually quit while the ball was still in the air. As Business Insider pointed out, one of the defenders can be seen unbuckling his chin strap before the play was over.
Here’s what he looked like after the play was over:

It's safe to say his coach will want an explanation from him on that play.
