Video Captures Exactly Why It Bugs So Many People When Cops Turn Their Lights on Just Before Crossing an Intersection

"The thing you don't notice though is that he turns his lights back off, just as the white vehicle enters the field of view."

We've all seen it. We're waiting at a red light when a police officer waiting there with us decides to throw on his lights and cross through the intersection. Now a video shows exactly why that annoys so many people.

Before going any further, we should note that it's unclear if the officer in this video actually got a call the moment he approached the intersection, was possibly going to a call without his lights and sirens on so as to not tip off his presence, or was simply using his authority to blow off the red light. But either way, the video still shows exactly what can happen when officers do it for valid or invalid purposes.

In the video, uploaded Tuesday on YouTube, a man can be seen following behind a patrol car. When they get to a red light, the squad car pulls to the right, throws his lights on, and proceeds to cross through the intersection. A car that had a green light proceeds to t-bone the officer.

"I do not know the whole story. I don't know if the cop had an emergency call to get to but you can clearly see the police officer running the light and crashing into a Ford Edge whom had a green light," YouTube user Joe24Chevy writes in the video's description.

But as one eagle-eyed commenter points out, "The thing you don't notice though is that he turns his lights back off, just as the white vehicle enters the field of view."
