MSNBC Host and His ‘Researchers’ Use Photo to Swipe at Two Well-Known GOP Figures...Then Came the Devastating Fact Check
December 16, 2014
"We got kind of curious. Ed Show researchers also noticed..."
A number of critics have been attacking New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie after he was caught on video cheering for the Dallas Cowboys alongside owner Jerry Jones during the game’s Sunday matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
MSNBC’s Ed Schultz and his group of “researchers” tried to get in on the political attack on Tuesday night, airing a photo of Christie and Jones -- with what the host claimed “looks like RNC Chair Reince Priebus.”

“We got kind of curious,” Schultz said. “Ed Show researchers also noticed what looks like RNC chair Reince Priebus sitting behind Christie and Jones, the owner of the Cowboys.”
The photo is real, but it's actually from September 2013 and not on Sunday as Schultz suggested. It didn't take long for the MSNBC host to get fact-checked.

Schultz also noted that a spokesperson for Priebus told his staff the RNC chair was believed to be at a dinner in Washington, D.C., but it apparently didn’t raise any red flags.
The official “Ed Show” Twitter account had yet to address the obvious discrepancy as of Tuesday at 7:40 p.m. ET.
