Actress Who Riled Feminists With Candid Comment Now Backtracks After Coming Under Fire

"Anyone that truly knows me, knows my heart and knows what I meant."

"The Big Bang Theory" actress Kaley Cuoco has apologized for her candid comments on feminism, claiming they were taken out of context, after facing a swift backlash on social media.

"Some people have taken offense to my comments regarding feminism- if any of you are In the 'biz' you are well aware of how words can be taken out of context," Cuoco wrote on Instagram. "I'm completely blessed and grateful that strong women have paved the way for my success along with many others. I apologize if anyone was offended. Anyone that truly knows me, knows my heart and knows what I meant."

Last week, Redbook magazine asked Cuoco if she considers herself a feminist. The actress responded: “Is it bad if I say no? It’s not really something I think about. Things are different now."

"I was never that feminist girl demanding equality, but maybe that’s because I’ve never really faced inequality," she added.

Commenters quickly attacked “The Big Bang Theory” actress, who is reportedly being paid $1 million per episode, as a "talentless" "idiot" who owes her salary to the hard work of feminists.

"How can someone who is reaping the benefits of the feminist movement (via her large paycheck) not be a 'feminist'?" Twitter user @JamieRaeGibson demanded.

@NicoleMojan added: "Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting’s thoughts on feminism are as tragic as her haircut. Barf."

But others have said Cuoco shouldn't have apologized.

"Feminism is all about women having the right to choose. Don't trash her choice and say you're a feminist. Go Kaley! #cuoco #NoApologies," Twitter user @robbinzhome wrote.
