Cameraman Was Filming Lava When He Faced ‘Closest Call Ever’: ‘I just Ran’

"There's not one shot that's worth that."

A cameraman was filming a lava lake on Ambrym Island when he likely faced his "closest call ever."

Footage shows Bradley Ambrose filming when lava when gas suddenly forces chunks to be projected from the pool and splatter all around him.

"That was probably my closest call ever to being completely covered in lava bombs," he said.

"I just ran," he added. "There's not one shot that's worth that."

Ambrose wrote on YouTube that the lava had been measured at 600-800 degree celsius at that particular volcano.

At the time of publication, the video, which was uploaded in late December, had amassed just over 3,000 views on YouTube.
