When a Reporter Asked a Controversial Rapper How He Defines Beauty, He Paused Before Delivering This One-Word Answer

When a style and fashion reporter for MTV recently asked rapper Kanye West what his definition of beauty is, the oft-times controversial performer paused before delivering a simple, one-word answer: "God."

West made the comment while speaking about his new Adidas clothing line, which he showed off at New York Fashion Week.

The rapper was asked what role he believes fashion has in "affecting change" and what his personal vision is for making an impact in the world.

"Beauty's important and it's illegal to be naked, so why not be adorned in beauty?" West responded.

And when the reporter followed up by asking, "What's your definition of beauty?" he paused before responding, "God."

Watch the video below:

It's unclear if West said anything after mentioning his take on beauty and a higher power, as the video cuts off, though this isn't the first time the rapper has invoked God's name.

West has repeatedly sung and talked about faith themes in the past, claiming that he plans to raise his daughter, North, whom he had with wife and reality TV star Kim Kardashian, with strong Christian values.

Following controversy last year after he demanded that a man stand up during his concert — not realizing the individual was in a wheelchair — West described himself as a "married Christian man."

As TheBlaze previously reported, the rapper has integrated Jesus into his past performances. He's been singing about themes that include Christ since 2004 and his 2013 album, "Yeezus," has a track called "I Am a God."
