Officer-Involved Shooting in Baltimore Takes Place in the Shadow of an Instantly Recognizable Mural

"The ghost of Trayvon Martin haunts the scene..."

An officer-involved shooting rocked Baltimore Sunday — and the location of the shooting got people's attention.

The location: in the shadow of a mural of Trayvon Martin, the black teenager who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in Florida three years ago this month.

The Baltimore Sun reported that the suspect involved in the shooting was hospitalized, while the officer involved was reportedly not injured.

More details on the Sunday shooting were not immediately available.

Martin, along with slain black men Michael Brown and Eric Garner, has become something of a rallying symbol for those who say the criminal justice system is devastatingly biased against black men.

Brown and Garner were killed by police officers; Martin was killed by a neighborhood watchman.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
