UPDATE:In a statement to Mediaite, Gohmert suggested his comments were misinterpreted:
Washington D.C. contains too many who do not recognize statements made with a figurative tongue in cheek, sometimes known as being ironic.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) told The Hill Thursday that he is weighing a run for president in 2016.
When asked by the political news website if he would be supporting Sen. Ted Cruz's bid for the nation's highest office, the conservative firebrand replied that he may run himself.
"Ted is a good friend and would be an outstanding president; however, I haven't ruled out an exploratory committee myself," Gohmert said in a statement to The Hill.
Gohmert, who attempted to unseat Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) as speaker of the House earlier this year, is well liked among tea party conservatives.
A representative from Gohmert's office was not immediately available for comment to TheBlaze Thursday evening.
