The girl then hid in a closet and sent a text message to her father.

"DADDY COME HOME NOW. SOME GUY TRIED TO RAPE ME," she wrote, according to KGO-TV.

Police said the girl showed incredible bravery fighting off the man.

"The guy starts a conversation with her and when she opens up the door, the suspect pushes her in, tries to sexually assault her as well. The little girl is brave, she fights back, and the guy leaves on foot," San Jose Police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said. "He's not concerned about being caught, since he's doing this in broad daylight."

Police suspect the man is responsible for an April 2 attack as well and have released surveillance photos of him. The individual is thought to be about 30-years-old with a medium build and beard.

"We need to put a stop to this immediately. We're really concerned that he's going to strike again and we need the public's help," Garcia said, according to KGO.

Individuals with information on him are urged to call authorities.
