Liberals in the U.S. are attempting to “redefine normalcy” by glorifying Caitlyn Jenner’s gender transition, making conservatives look like the “new weirdos” in the process, radio host Rush Limbaugh said on Tuesday.
“Conservative and Republicans are the new weirdos, the new kooks — and that is part of the political objective here in normalizing all of this really marginal behavior,” Limbaugh said. “I mean, if less than 1 percent of the population’s engaging in it, it’s marginalized behavior. It isn’t normal, no matter how you define it.”
Yet there is still a “quest to make it normal,” he added.
“The objective here is to then portray the old norms and the practitioners of the old norms as the deadbeats, the dry balls, the sticks in the mud — or worse — their racist, sexist, bigots, homophobes, but they’re the weirdos,” Limbaugh said.
The ultimate goal, the radio host continued, is to “rip and criticize the arbiters of the old norms, which happens to be religion, Christianity, conservatism, Republicanism, you name it.”
“Don’t doubt me on this,” Limbaugh said.
At another point in the radio program, Limbaugh cited a noted professor, scientist and doctor at Johns Hopkins who argued that transgendered people are suffering from mental illness.
"It was his claim -- he just came right out and said it -- that we're dealing with mental illness here," he said. "We should not be celebrating this, we should not be lionizing this, we should not be encouraging this. These people have a very serious problem, and they need treatment. They need help, not encouragement. "
