The second victim, a 16-year-old boy, lost an arm in an attack reported about 5:30 p.m., the station said, citing the mayor.
Both victims were airlifted to a hospital, WECT and the Star News reported.
Officials were working to get people out of the water, WECT noted, adding that sheriffs will send a helicopter along the shoreline in an attempt to spot sharks.
Another teenage girl was attacked by a shark Thursday at Ocean Isle, less than 20 miles from Oak Island. The victim suffered cuts to her foot and her boogie board was destroyed by shark bites, WCNC-TV reported.
