Fire officials responded to the Azusa neighborhood just before 1 p.m. after a call about a cut and bleeding individual. A neighbor said the man began acting “insane” and yelled "Shoot me!" to police when they arrived on scene, KCAL reported.

The man was shot multiple times and hospitalized in critical condition; the station reported that he later died.

No officers were hurt in the shooting, the station said.

Other details about the shooting weren't immediately available and still under investigation, KCAL reported.
