After Getting a DWI, College Girl Came Up With an Idea to Get Around That Has Turned Her Into Viral Star

“It goes pretty fast when it’s just me."

Getting a DWI wasn't about to stop Tara Monroe from getting where she needed to go.

The Texas State University junior recently had her drivers license automatically suspended for refusing to take a breathalyzer test during a DWI stop and her dad came to campus to take her vehicle away shortly after, leaving her with nothing more than her own two feet and a bike to get around.

“Riding a bike around campus sucks. Like really sucks," Monroe told the San Antonio Express-News.

So, perusing some pages on Craigslist, she found a Barbie Jeep for $60.

But the toy vehicle's previous owner, a girl named Charlene, wasn't sure what to make of it all when Monroe went to pick up her new hot pink ride. Monroe said Charlene asked where the "little one" was to test drive it.

"I am the little one," Monroe told Charlene.

A number of others around Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, have taken note of the now-famous Barbie Jeep and have posted images of it parked in actual parking spaces around campus. And, in this age of the Internet, those images have unexpectedly turned Monroe into the star of a mega-viral hit.

As for how she's liking her new wheels so far, Monroe seems to be satisfied.

“It goes pretty fast when it’s just me, so I usually make them walk behind me like parents taking their kid out to play,” she told the Express-News, referring to her friends.

“I’m just happy everyone thinks this is so hilarious," Monroe added.
