Hillary Clinton said the behavior that Donald Trump has exhibited would have consequences if he were president.
"He’s great at innuendos and conspiracy theories and really defaming people,” Clinton said in an interview aired Friday on MSNBC, responding to a question about Trump’s criticism of longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin. “That’s not what I want to do in my campaign. That’s not how I’m going to conduct myself.”

Clinton referenced Trump’s criticism of Abedin, retired NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Fox News host Megan Kelly.
“He is going after so many people, many of them by name, from great basketball players to people who express different opinions from him,” Clinton said. “It’s an unfortunate development in politics that his campaign is all about who he is against, whether it’s immigrants or women broadcasters or aides of other candidates.”
Much of Clinton's weakness with the public has been her perception as a scripted candidate, while Trump has gotten much of his support for being so unscripted. Clinton sought to reverse this, stressing responsibility of being president.
MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell also asked about Clinton’s Democratic rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, when asking about voters' desire for authenticity from candidates.
“I do know people say I’m careful about what I say,” Clinton said. “That’s because for more than 20 years I’ve seen the importance of the president of the United States as the leader not only of our nation but also of the world having to send messages that will be received by all kinds of people. Loose talk, threats, insults — they have consequences.”
Hillary said of Trump, "His campaign is all about who he is against. He is the candidate of being against, I'm the candidate of bringing us together.”
