Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry announced Friday that he would be suspending his campaign for president of the United States.
"Today I submit that His will remains a mystery, but some things have become clear," Perry said during a speech in St. Louis. "That is why today I am suspending my campaign for the presidency of the United States."

"We have a tremendous field of candidates. Probably the greatest group of men and women. I step aside knowing our party is in good hands, as long as we listen to the grassroots, the cause of conservatism. If we do that, our party will be in good hands," Perry added.
The three-term governor said he shared the news with "no regrets" and added that "it has been a privilege and an honor to travel this country to speak with the American people about their hopes and dreams."
Perry had struggled to gain momentum in the 2016 race for the White House, failing to make the main stage in either the Fox News or CNN debate.
