Tennessee Commissioner Responds to Gay Marriage With Proposed Resolution Begging God Not to 'Destroy' Her County 'As He Did Sodom and Gomorrah

"As the Passover Lamb was a means of salvation to the ancient Children of Israel, so we stand upon the safety of the Lamb of God to save us."

A Tennessee county is reportedly planning to consider a resolution that will beg God for mercy following the Supreme Court's legalization of same-sex marriage, imploring the Almighty to "pass" the county by during "his coming wrath."

The resolution, which takes aim at the federal legalization of gay nuptials, was purportedly written by Blount County Commissioner Karen Miller and will be considered at a county meeting on Tuesday evening, the Huffington Post reported.

"Federal judges have once again usurped powers not delegated to them, and have violated reason, the rule of law and natural law by purporting to strike down state laws and acts of the people recognizing and protecting natural marriage," the document reads, in part.

The text goes on to state that the resolution is being issued in an effort to protect the county from God's anger over gay marriage legalization.

"We adopt this Resolution before God that He pass us by in His Coming Wrath and not destroy our County as He did Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring cities," the text reads, in part. "As the Passover Lamb was a means of salvation to the ancient Children of Israel, so we stand upon the safety of the Lamb of God to save us."

The resolution goes on to beg for God's "favor" in light of what it proclaims to be a "lawless judiciary" that legalized "what God and the Bible expressly forbids."

The proposal is already making waves in Blount County, where individuals on both sides are expected to speak out at Tuesday's meeting, the Daily Times reported.

"I have received information that Blount County wants to vote on a resolution asking God to not harm our county because our county follows the law of the United States," resident Brett Rich wrote in an email to the outlet. "I find the wording of their resolution to be a very sad form of intolerance from our government."

Others, too, have shared similar sentiment. What do you think? Let us know below.
