Four Hikers Were Crossing Suspension Bridge. Halfway Through, Something Horrific Happened

"Halfway we hear a thud..."

Four hikers crossing a suspension bridge over New Zealand's Lake Waikaremoana survived after a cable snapped and sent three of them tumbling approximately 30 feet into the water.

According to the video, the incident occurred earlier this year in March, but video was only uploaded to YouTube this week.

"Halfway we hear a thud and before you have time to do anything" the bridge had "thrown" three of the hikers into the water, one of the individuals wrote, according to an online translation.

The hiker called it a "miracle" a member of the group was able to remain standing on the bridge.

An investigation by the New Zealand Department of Conservation reportedly found that a defect in one of the cable links caused the incident. It is currently being repaired.
