As the Islamic State advances across the Middle East, the people of Kurdistan find themselves fighting for their existence.
Islamic State militants have battled their way into northern Iraq, leaving behind a trail of terror. Thousands of Kurds have been slaughtered or taken captive and used as slaves. The Kurdish fighters, known as peshmerga, are undersupplied and overmatched, but they are united by their faith and are determined to survive.
Correspondent Sara Carter traveled to Kurdistan to get a firsthand look at the front lines of this fight against the Islamic State.
