November 09, 2015
You might be surprised by the answer.
Americans are among the generous in the world – but there's one country that gives even more than the U.S. of A.
While the U.S. is still the most generous nation in the developed world, Myanmar stole the top spot as the most generous country overall, according to the 2015 annual World Giving Index produced by the Charities Aid Foundation.
Here are the top five most generous countries overall, according to the report:

The United Kingdom, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Malaysia rounded out the top ten most generous countries overall, respectively.
The report's findings were based on three criteria: the percentage of people in each country who have given to charity, the percentage of people in each country who have volunteered their time and the percentage of people in each country who have helped a stranger in the last month. Data were based on surveys, carried out by Gallup, in 145 countries.
Last year, America tied with Myanmar for the No. 1 spot., as TheBlaze previously reported.
