Ted Cruz Warns That Donald Trump 'Could Be Unstoppable' if He Wins Iowa

"If Donald wins Iowa, he right now has a substantial lead in New Hampshire.."

Republican candidate for the White House Ted Cruz said Monday that if front-runner Donald Trump wins the Feb. 1 Iowa caucuses, then he will likely be "unstoppable."

Cruz, who is "neck-and-neck" with Trump in Iowa, made the comments during a private meeting with pastors in Iowa. Video of the remarks was obtained exclusively by the Christian Broadcasting Network's "The Brody File."

"If Donald wins Iowa, he right now has a substantial lead in New Hampshire, if he went on to win New Hampshire as well, there is a very good chance he could be unstoppable and be our nominee," the Texas senator said, according to the video.

"So even if you're thinking about another candidate, the simple reality is there's only one campaign that can beat Trump in this state, and if conservatives simply stand up and unite, that's everything," he added, noting that with less than a week to go until the caucuses, he and Trump are in a "dead heat" for the state.

Whoever wins Iowa, will likely see a boost into future primaries, and Iowa, unlike New Hampshire, is currently a toss-up, with some polls showing Cruz ahead, while others have Trump leading.

According to the RealClearPolitics average of Iowa polls, Trump is leading Cruz, 33.2 percent to 27.5 percent. While Trump has retaken the lead in Iowa since the new year, the five-point lead is generally within a poll's margin-of-error.
