Lindsey Graham Goes Nuclear on GOP Foe With Brutal Joke About Ted Cruz Being Killed on the Senate Floor

"But I will say that our Canadian is better than your Kenyan."

South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsay Graham aimed some jabs at the remaining GOP presidential candidates Thursday evening as he rebuked his party for going "bats**t crazy."

While speaking at the Washington Press Club Foundation Dinner, Grahamn playfully threw insults at his former challengers for the GOP nomination while they appeared at the Republican debate in Houston, Texas. Graham, who had announced his bid for the 2016 presidential election in June 2015, dropped out of the race in December.

During his appearance at the dinner, Graham began his remarks by indicating that he'd like a stool to stand on so he could "be like Trump — huge!"

He then went on to criticize Democratic contender Hillary Clinton, saying that there is a good chance she could become president because his "party has gone bats**t crazy."

"A good Republican would defend Ted Cruz after tonight. That ain't happening," Graham continued. "If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate and the trial was in the Senate, nobody could convict you."

Graham continued his remarks about Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, referring to businessman Donald Trump's criticisms of Cruz's birth to an American mother in Canada.

"I know exactly when Ted is going to drop out of the race. March 12 — that's Canadian week in Myrtle Beach, when all of our Canadian friends get 10 percent off. But I will say that our Canadian is better than your Kenyan," Graham said, taking a jab at claims that President Barack Obama was born in Kenya. "Well, at least Canada's closer to American than Kenya is. It's a step in the right direction."

Graham then turned his attention to Ohio Gov. John Kasich and surgeon Dr. Ben Carson — the two candidates taking a back seat to front-runners Cruz, Trump and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

"To the women who left the kitchen tonight to come, thank you all very much. John Kasich needs your help," Graham said, referring to Kasich's recent controversial comments about thanking the women who "left their kitchens" to support him. "[Kasich's] the moderate with a good heart. The nice guy is Ben Carson. He tried to kill his cousin, and hit his mother in the head with a hammer. He's the one we all like. How did I lose to these guys?"

Then came jabs for Rubio.

"Then there's Marco. The 'boy wonder.' I'm not saying he would change his positions, but he would change his positions," Graham said. "The Secret Service's main job if he's president is to keep him hydrated."

Then Graham's remarks took a serious turn as he discussed Trump.

"The Donald. I am literally running out of adjectives. I don't know how I can best describe Donald Trump, but I can say this: that I don't think he understands what makes America great," Graham said. "And I know I'm supposed to be funny. I'm not really happy about where the country is right now."
