Hillary Clinton Confronted on Death Penalty by Man Who Spent 39 Years on Death Row for Crime He Didn't Commit — Watch Her Revealing Answer

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was confronted by a man who spent 39 years in jail for a murder he didn't commit over her support for the death penalty at a Democratic presidential town hall on Sunday.

Clinton’s remarks came in response to a blunt question from Ricky Jackson, who was famously vindicated of a murder charge that left him on death row.

"I came perilously close to my own execution," Jackson said. "In light of what I've just shared with you...I want to know how can you still take your stance on the death penalty."

His question was met with applause from the town hall audience.

In response, Clinton came out against the death penalty in almost all cases, saying “the states have proven themselves incapable of carrying out fair trials.”

After calling for the elimination of the death penalty at the state level, Clinton said she still supports the death penalty in rare instances at the federal level for terrorists and mass murderers like the 9/11 hijackers and the Oklahoma City bomber.
