Nike Unveils Self-Lacing Shoes — Behold the 'HyperAdapt 1.0\

Thirty years after "Back to the Future II" predicted self-lacing shoes would be a reality, Nike has unveiled its' new HyperAdapt 1.0 featuring a technology the company calls "adaptive lacing."

Don't rush to the mall just yet. The new shoes won't be sold until later this year -- just in time for the holidays. Additionally, the company says the HyperAdapt 1.0 will be only sold to members of Nike+.

Simply explained, when the wearer's heel hits a sensor in the bottom of the shoe, the laces tighten. Nike claims the shoe will provide "precise, consistent, personalized lockdown" for the wearer, adding that the fit "can be manually adjusted on the go."

Last October 21  ("Back to the Future Day"), the company delivered a prototype of the Nike Mag to Michael J. Fox. The YouTube clip showing Fox trying on the shoes has been seen more than four million times on his YouTube channel.
