CNN Host Wolf Blitzer Mistakenly Remembers Prince's Popular Song 'Purple Haze' — and Twitter Reacts
April 21, 2016
"All of us, of course, remember 'Purple Haze' and what that did for the world of music."
After news broke of the death of legendary pop singer-songwriter Prince broke, his iconic hit "Purple Rain" was his No. 1 searched song. But that didn't keep CNN host Wolf Blitzer from calling it the wrong name.
As he and CNN host Don Lemon remembered Prince's contributions to culture and the impact his music had, Blitzer noted the singer's well-known song, "Purple Rain." Except, Blitzer called it "Purple Haze."
"All of us, of course, remember 'Purple Haze' and what that did for the world of music," Blitzer said.

"Purple Haze" was actually a song by guitarist Jimi Hendrix, whereas Prince is known for his song "Purple Rain."
As you can imagine, it didn't take long for Twitter to catch on to the snafu.
Wolf Blitzet seems like the kind of dude who would call Prince's most popular song "Purple Haze." How do you get something like that wrong?

Wolf Blitzer recalls Prince's classic songs "Purple Haze" and "The Other Song By A Black Person That Wolf Blitzer Knows The Name Of."

@becket Something tells me Wolf Blitzer has never heard "Purple Haze," much less "Purple Rain."
