An 80-Year-Old Woman Took Matters Into Her Own Hands After She Caught a Home Invader Stabbing Her Husband

"She had shot an intruder after he broke into her home and stabbed her husband."

An 80-year-old Washington state woman shot and killed a home intruder after he began stabbing her 75-year-old husband Thursday evening.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said that the woman, who has not yet been named, saw the intruder stabbing her husband multiple times in his abdomen, according to KCPQ-TV. According to Sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton, the woman called 911 roughly around 8:30 p.m. Thursday from her home in Sultan, Washington, and said "she had shot an intruder after he broke into her home and stabbed her husband."

The suspect, a 25-year-old man from Gold Bar, was pronounced dead at the scene, whereas the woman's husband was airlifted to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center and pronounced to be in stable condition.according to KTLA-TV. The couple's 45-year-old son, who also had been inside the home at the time of the stabbing and shooting, did not sustain any injuries.

"At this time, detectives do not believe the suspect was known to the residents of the home and that this was an attempted home burglary," Ireton said, according to KCPQ.
