Trump Surrogate Defends Controversial Comments Regarding Women as 'His TV Personality
May 03, 2016
"Here's the thing: criticism of a woman is not sexism."
Donald Trump surrogate Katrina Pierson doubled down on the idea that the Republican presidential front-runner's bombastic rhetoric — especially regarding women — is simply "entertainment."
After Emily's List spokeswoman Jess McIntosh listed several controversial comments Trump has made about specific women, Pierson defended the statements as things Trump has said "in a television program for entertainment purposes."
"Those are the types of comments that are pulled out of context and what actually started the disagreement between Donald Trump and Megyn Kelly — because that was his TV personality," Pierson continued during the segment on MSNBC.
Pierson continued to contend that Trump has "had many public fights with women and men, but we don't hear about him talking about Rand Paul's hair."
"Here's the thing: criticism of a woman is not sexism," Pierson argued.
