Trump Says He Never Believed JFK-Rafael Cruz Conspiracy Theory, Only Wanted People to Read It

Donald Trump said Wednesday that he never believed Ted Cruz's father was connected to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, just one day after floating a conspiracy theory which suggested exactly that during an interview on national television.

Speaking with CNN host Wolf Blitzer, Trump repeatedly said he never thought the theory he cited held water: "Of course I don't believe it. I wouldn't believe it. But I did say, let people read it."

Just one day prior, Trump floated an unsubstantiated National Enquirer report on "Fox & Friends" that suggested Rafael Cruz was with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the assassination of Kennedy.

"What was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the shooting?" Trump asked at the time.

Pressed on the subject after Cruz ended his bid for the White House, the presumptive Republican nominee insisted he never believed the theory he floated.

"Of course I don't think that," he told Blitzer.
