Pop star Justin Bieber said in an Instagram note Tuesday that he will no longer take photos with fans who see him in public.
"If you happen to see me out somewhere know that I'm not gonna take a picture," Beiber wrote, "I'm done taking pictures."
"It has gotten to the point that people won't even say hi to me or recognize me as a human," the singer added, "I feel like a zoo animal and I wanna be able to keep my sanity."
Bieber said that he understood some of his fans "will be disappointed" by the news, but argued he doesn't "owe anybody a picture."
"It doesn't say in fine print whenever you see me you also get a photo," Bieber wrote.
While many fans voiced support for Bieber on social media, others contended his note was "rude" and "selfish."

The note was posted one day after Bieber was seen wandering barefoot through a Boston park. Over the weekend, the pop star burst into tears while performing one of his songs at a concert.
