Watch Panel's Reaction to Ex-Trump Campaign Manager Corey Lewandowski's Birther Moment on Live TV

“Did he get in as a U.S. citizen or ..."

Former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski veered a bit into birther-ville Tuesday night during a heated CNN panel discussion on the presidential election.

Lewandowski, now a CNN contributor, sparred with CNN political commentator Angela Rye over President Barack Obama's pointed stance against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Lewandowski said Obama shouldn't use his office to campaign for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and Rye said Trump began attacks on Obama well before the election cycle with questions about his Harvard transcripts and birth certificate — she even invoked the word "birther."

With that Lewandowski hit back and asked repeatedly if Obama ever released his Harvard transcripts before offering the biggest zinger of the segment: “Did he get in as a U.S. citizen or was he brought into Harvard University as a citizen who wasn’t from this country? I don’t know the answer.”

That set off Rye and fellow panelist Bakari Sellers, who said it was "blatantly disrespectful" of Lewandowski to attempt to "delegitimize” Obama by implying that he's actually a foreigner. Lewandowski frequently pointed out that Rye was the one who brought up the "birther" issue.
