Ailes was recently ousted from his role at Fox following allegations that he sexually harassed numerous women employed by the network, claims Sherman reported on extensively.
According to CBS News, Ailes met with Trump on Sunday as the GOP candidate prepares for the upcoming presidential debates. Ailes advised former Presidents Richard Nixon and George H.W. Bush prior to their debates.
The first debate between Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Trump is scheduled for Sept. 26.
